2. Herseypark Camping Resort

Since me and the fam have stayed several times at the Herseypark Camping Resort, I can personally attest to how awesome this place is! We have always opted for regular tent camping and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

The campground offers free shuttle rides to Herseypark that run all day, plus great discounts and 1-hour early entry. Furthermore, the campground amenities include 2 pools, indoor game room, playgrounds, horseshoe pits as well as scheduled entertainment (check the calendar).

3. Raccoon Mountain Caverns & Campground

Raccoon Mountain Caverns & Campground has quite an interesting history. In 1929, Leo Lambert started exploring the caves and by 1931 opened “Tennessee Caverns” to the public. Now called Raccoon Mountain Caverns, there are over 5.5 miles of caverns with waterfalls, canyons and abundant fossils to explore. Both walking tours and cave expeditions are offered (by reservation).

The campground itself also has a lot to offer. Amenities such as a 24 hour laundry facility, bath houses with private showers, fitness center, dog park and wireless internet services are included in your stay. In addition, the campground features an outdoor saltwater pool, playground for the kids, a swinging bridge and hiking trails. Mining of precious gems is another family favorite activity the campground offers.

4. Pirateland Family Camping Resort

If your family members are beach lovers but you still want to have a campground vacation, Pirateland Family Camping Resort is for you! This campground is located oceanfront on the south end of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Pirateland has both indoor and outdoor pools as well as a hot tub, water park and lazy river. Other amenities include mini golf, golf car rentals, an arcade, playgrounds, basketball courts and much more!! Don’t forget …you’re just a walk away from the beach!

5. Camp Dakota

Camp Dakota is a beautiful 45 acre campground and adventure park. Located in the Western Cascade foothills of Oregon, about an hour away from Portland, the campground offers numerous activities for all ages.

For the adrenaline seeker, Camp Dakota offers an Aerial Challenge Course, paintball course, zipline tours and rock wall climbing. On the other hand, for those less enthused about the hard core stuff, Dakota offers tie dying, treasure hunts, disc golf, gold panning and an archery/tomahawk range. Above all, there is fun to be had for all ages.

6. Camp LaConte

Adjacent to the Great Smokey Mountains, Camp LaConte is an awesome campground vacation spot! In addition to the beauty of nature all around, the campground is just minutes from downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Not only does Camp LaConte offer regular tent and RV camping, but they also add some flair to the mix. You can enjoy your stay in a luxurious tree house, safari tent or retro 1960s camper. The area has a plethora of things to do. For example, you can go white water rafting, zip lining or go cart racing as well as amusement parks and dinner shows.

7. Crystal Grove Diamond Mine & Campground

Although my family has never been to this campground personally, I do believe they would absolutely love it! Crystal Grove Campground isn’t just for camping but also offers open pit mining of Herkimer Diamonds! “Herkimer Diamonds” are a type of quartz crystal found only in certain parts of upstate New York.

For a fee, you can mine these crystals yourself ($8 ages 12+ / $5 ages 5-11 / under 5 are free). Crystal Grove is known for it’s great specimens of crystals on matrix and druzy but there is also an abundance of crystals loose in the dirt. Also, don’t forget to bring your tools (or you can rent them) and make sure to dress for the occasion.

8. Blue Water Beach Resort

Blue Water Beach Resort is located on beautiful Bear Lake in Garden City, Utah. The campground has an onsite boat rental so that you can rent various watercraft for a fun day on the lake.

As well as having beach access, the campground also has a swimming pool, basketball court and playground. Similarly, the local area has opportunities to view the beautiful scenery. For example, the Limber Pine Nature Trail, Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuse and the Paris Ice Cave are all close by.

9. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park

Jellystone Park literally caters to kids! As a matter of fact, the campground is basically an amusement park in itself. For example, there is a water park and pool, a jumping pad, mini golf and even snowless snowtubing!! They also offer “Rides” on a train, or wagon, or 4×4 truck and more.

Jellystone offers tent camping, RV sites with hookups as well as cabins and tree house rentals. Golf carts are available to rent too!

10. Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort

If you’re looking for a “western” experience, Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort is your place! Located on 4,000 acres bordering Utah’s Zion National Park, not only can you enjoy the beautiful scenery but also participate in some old fashioned western fun.

At the ranch, you can go canyoneering, horseback riding, hiking, zip lining as well as fishing and swimming in the two-tiered pool. Also, the campground offers Jeep tours, a shotgun range, western dinners and a kids camp.
