Scooby Doo has been a family favorite since it first aired in 1969. The cartoon has had such popularity that it has earned the presence of many celebrity guest stars. From rock stars to WWE wrestlers, many of the forgotten guest stars have made for some of the best shows.
Writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears created the original series for Hanna Barbera …these are the shows I grew up on. My kids have always enjoyed the newer series too though.
If you don’t know, Scooby Doo is about a gang of teenagers (and a dog) from Coolsville who solve mysteries involving supernatural creatures. Furthermore, they call their gang Mystery, Inc. and drive a groovy van called the Mystery Machine.
Scooby Doo Main Characters
Scooby Doo
The show is named after this good boy. “Scoob” is the pet and lifelong companion of Shaggy Rogers. He is a Great Dane dog who is able to speak in broken English and usually puts an R in front of words (Ruh-Roh!). Above all, Scooby will do pretty much anything for a Scooby Snack.
Norville “Shaggy” Rogers
Shaggy is a member of Mystery, Inc. and owner / best friend of Scooby Doo. He is the hippy of the group and has an insatiable appetite (along with Scoob). Although he is quite cowardly, he can easily be coerced into being brave with Scooby snacks. His favorite catch phrase is “Zoinks!”
Daphne Blake
Daphne is the fashionista of the Mystery, Inc. gang. However, she rarely changes out of her purple dress. She has a tendency to be danger prone, hence her nickname “Danger-prone Daphne”. Daphne is a black belt martial artist and can get out of various predicaments with her accessories. She’s heard using the word “Jeepers” a lot as well as calling out “Scooby Doo Where Are You?”
Fred “Freddie” Jones
Fred Jones is the leader of Mystery, Inc. and the driver of the Mystery Machine. He is usually the one to split everyone up to look for clues and is an expert in setting up booby traps to capture the villians (although Shaggy and Scooby usually set off the traps first). Moreover, his trademark accessory is an orange ascot.
Velma Dinkley
Velma is the sharp-witted genius of Mystery, Inc. As a full blown skeptic, Velma always believes there is a rational explanation and typically is the one to decipher clues and solve the mystery. Furthermore, she loves orange turtleneck sweaters and has a tendency to lose her glasses.

Scooby Doo’s Greatest Celebrity Guest Stars
First of all, let me say that celebrity guest stars were my absolute favorite when watching Scooby Doo as a kid. It was always cool to see a real life person transformed into a cartoon.
While watching Scooby Doo with my own kids, I realized that there were a lot of celebrity guest stars I had forgotten about (or didn’t even know about at all!) Subsequently, I decided it would be fun to come up with a list of my favorite forgotten guest stars.

1. Steve Urkel
Steven Quincy Urkel, played by Jaleel White, was a character on the show Family Matters from the early 1990s. With his signature red suspenders and clumsy nature, Steve was well known for his catch phrase “Did I do that?” In addition, he loves cheese and his neighbor Laura Winslow.
In 2019, Warner Bros. Animation released “When Urkel-Bots Go Bad!” featuring the famous Steve Urkel. Steve and the Mystery Inc. gang are trying to track down his Urkel-Bot in Chicago. Meanwhile they stumble upon they mystery of the Technomancer who has the ability to control all robots!
2. KISS
KISS is regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of all time. For instance, KISS holds the title as America’s No. 1 gold record award winning group of all time. Well known for their face paint, stage outfits and shocking performances, KISS rose to prominence in the late 1970s and have been performing ever since.
Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery is a 2015 direct to DVD film featuring none other than KISS. The gang shows up at an amusement park called KISS World to help solve a mystery about the Crimson Witch. To sum it up, KISS and Mystery, Inc. team together to prevent the witch from using their hit song “Detroit Rock City” to summon a monster intended to conquer the world.

3. Martha Quinn
Scooby Doo – Dance of the Undead
Because I grew up in the 1980s (yikes showing my age), I have very fond memories of watching MTV as a kid. Martha Quinn was one of the original five VJs (Video Jockeys). Together with Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter and J.J. Jackson, Martha was fully involved with the new age of music.
Martha Quinn made her celebrity guest star appearance in the 2013 show “Dance of the Undead“. In this episode, the Mystery, Inc. gang teams up with the Hex Girls (an eco-rock-goth band) to solve a mystery. Rude Boy and Ska-Tastics have somehow forced everyone to unwittingly dance to their tune (and they can’t stop). Daphne called the dance “skanking”. The gang goes to Grooves from the Grave, owned by none other than Martha Quinn, to find some clues.

4. The Harlem Globetrotters
If you don’t know, the Harlem Globetrotters is an American exhibition basketball team and extremely fun to watch. For example, they incorporate theater and comedy into their games. The Scooby Doo episodes that included the Harlem Globetrotters were equally fun to watch.
Scooby Doo Meets the Harlem Globetrotters consists of two episodes: The Lochness Mess and The Mystery of Haunted Island. The six members shown in the episodes include B.J. Mason, Curly Neal, Geese Ausbie, Meadowlark Lemon, Gip Gipson and Pablo Robertson.
5. Simon Cowell
As many of you probably know, Simon Cowell is an English television personality, entrepreneur and record executive. He has been a judge on several talent competition shows. For instance, America’s Got Talent, American Idol and The X Factor are all on his resume. Furthermore, Simon stands out because of his blunt and sometimes controversial comments, often insulting contestants.
Simon and his young son Eric both landed roles in the 2020 film Scoob! After years of mystery solving, the Mystery, Inc. gang decides to officially go into business with Simon Cowell as their investor. Simon refuses to do business with Shaggy and Scooby so they separate from the gang. And that’s where the mystery begins…

6. WWE Wrestlers
The WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.) is an entertainment company primarily known for professional wrestling. Even though the wrestling contests are merely entertainment shows versus legitimate competitions, the wrestlers have become wildly popular.
The WWE wrestlers made their appearance in two Scooby Doo films: Scooby-Doo Wrestlemania Mystery and Scooby-Doo and WWE: Curse of the Speed Demon. Some of the WWE performers shown in the films include John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, El Torito and even Vince McMahon.

Weird Al Chia Pet
Weird Al made his debut on Scooby Doo in 2011 on the Bat-Mite Presents: Batman’s Strangest Cases! episode. However, in 2019 he ended up with his own episode titled Attack of the Weird Al-Osaurus. In this episide, Weird Al is the operator of a sleep-away accordion camp.
